SEOUL February 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actress Kang So-ra has returned to the drama scene after 6 years of absence, throughout those 6 years actress not only giving birth to her child but also experienced extensive parenthood. Kang So-ra showcased various emotional changes showcased by those who have gone through the process of marriage and divorce.
Actress Kang So-ra who participated in a recently ended ENA drama series “Strangers Again,” participated in an interview at a small café located in Gangnam district of Seoul on February 24.
“Stranger Again” depicts a story of protagonist Oh Ha-ra acted by Kang So-ra who is a lawyer professionalizes in divorce cases who gets to share offices with her ex husband, falling back in love with the ex husband figure. The male protagonist Ku Eun-Beom is acted by actor Jang Seung-jo.
“The drama depicts a love story of both of the protagonists in their mid thirties, where they have experienced both love and divorce,” adding “Ha-ra and Eun-beom are very dorky despite of their effort to look cool.” addressed actress Kang So-ra throughout her interview.
Although the protagonist Oh Ha-ra is a well skilled professional lawyer, however in terms of love and relationship she is very bad at it. When caught up in the moment with Gu Eun-beom, she lies about her true feelings which leads up to poorly interpreted situations.
“In terms of protagonist Ha-ra’s life, I personally believe her divorce might have been the biggest downfall of her life,” adding “Since going through divorce left Ha-ra with betrayal towards people, and things that are just impossible to overcome, Ha-ra must have tried to keep her true feelings and weakness away from Gu Eun-beom.” Kang So-ra who acted out protagonist Oh Ha-ra addressed throughout her interview.
Moreover, actress addressed, “Although they have gone through their process of divorce, they were not really taking in the reality,” adding “Having the question of what would have possibly led to the outcome of him cheating, due to her strong mindedness she never asks the question.”
Protagonist Oh Ha-ra is little bit different from the characters actress Kang So-ra has acted out in the past. Kang So-ra acted out the charismatic female protagonist Ha Chun-hwa, throughout South Korean movie “Sunny” which premiered in 2011 whereas actress acted out very motivated lawyer Lee Eun-jo throughout the drama series “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo” which aired in 2016.
“In the past I have worked on various productions with characters that brings relief to the audience, however the character Oh Ha-ra is like a baby sister figure who everyone tries to help out and provide care, therefore I was worried that audiences might have hard time seeing the resemblance throughout the series,” adding “Moreover, if I have showcased very bold emotions in the past, this time I have focused on raising the questions by the audiences, that is because my overall goal was to provide the audience with some time to think of how Ha-ra would feel and fill in the blanks so that they can truly engage in the series.”
Instead of showcasing direct answers, the drama “Stranger Again” ends the story with the question for audiences to think about. Oh Ha-ra and Gu Eun-beom starts their relationship after overcoming every obstacles, however due to perspective difference on whether to have a bay or not, both protagonists fights and splits up.
When asked of the question whether both protagonists with love for one another firmly embedded within them, be considered nobody to one another, actress Kang So-ra addressed “It’s a relationship which cannot be defined,” adding “Although they both love one another, however they are not willing to continue on with the relationship knowing what they dislike about one another.”
“When dating somebody, both sides tend to look at things very positively, however when living with someone where they are stuck together for 24 hours, small little details tend to create huge difference,” adding “Instead of focusing on the differences, trying to connect with one another and fit into ones patter of life is what marriage is,” addressed Kang So-ra throughout her interview regarding “Strangers Again.”
Actress Kang So-ra addressed that although the reunification of both protagonists has not been showcased within the series, she firmly believes in the future where both characters unite with one another.
“Towards the end of the drama series, Euen-beom starts to unveil various emotional scars he has, and that triggers Ha-ra to take a step back and see from a much wider perspective, since both have matured throughout the series, I personally think they will be able to continue on with their relationship. However it will take time.” actress Kang So-ra carefully addressed throughout her interview.
