SEOUL, Aug. 12 (Yonhap) -- Three former members of the K-pop group Fifty Fifty -- Saena, Aran, and Sio -- are set to resume their activities under the new label MASSIVE E&C, a subsidiary of IOK Company, later this year.
IOK announced on the 12th that the trio has signed an exclusive contract with the label and plans to make a full-fledged comeback as early as the second half of this year.
Saena, Aran, and Sio gained attention as rising K-pop stars last year when Fifty Fifty's hit single "Cupid" achieved global success. However, in June of the same year, all members of Fifty Fifty filed for an injunction to terminate their contracts with their then-agency, ATTRAKT, leading to a legal dispute. The court dismissed the injunction, and only one member, Kina, returned to ATTRAKT. Kina is now set to make a comeback with new members next month.
In October of last year, ATTRAKT officially terminated the contracts of Saena, Aran, and Sio after they failed to return. Additionally, at the end of the year, ATTRAKT filed a lawsuit seeking 13 billion KRW (approximately 130 million USD) in damages from the three members and their parents.
IOK expressed their commitment to supporting the talented and passionate members as they aim for greater success on the global stage, stating their intent to create another success story with the team that made "Cupid" a global hit.
IOK Company, known for representing prominent actors such as Go Hyun-jung, Jo In-sung, Moon Chae-won, and Chae Jong-hyeop, is expanding its reach into K-pop as part of its growth strategy as a global entertainment enterprise encompassing management, content production, and new media.
