SEOUL, May 16 (Yonhap) -- During the pre-recording of Mnet's music program "M Countdown," a fire broke out on the set, fortunately causing no casualties.

According to CJ ENM, on the morning of the 16th, flames erupted on the edge of the set during the pre-recording of "M Countdown" at the CJ ENM Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

In response, CJ ENM evacuated the audience and Aespa members from the shooting location and immediately suppressed the fire. The fire was contained by staff before it could spread significantly.

CJ ENM stated, "No injuries were confirmed due to this fire," and explained, "We are conducting fireproofing measures on the 'M Countdown' set and will meticulously recheck its maintenance status to prevent a recurrence of similar issues."

After the fire was contained, pre-recording for other artists resumed. "M Countdown" will air as scheduled at 6 p.m. on the same day.

Aespa was scheduled to appear on the live broadcast of "M Countdown" in the afternoon. However, Winter, a member of Aespa who recently underwent chest surgery, will not attend the live broadcast due to health concerns.

SM Entertainment stated, "An issue occurred with the stage set during the pre-recording of 'M Countdown,' and subsequently, Winter requires rest and stability due to health concerns. Therefore, only Karina, Giselle, and Ningning will participate in today's live broadcast of 'M Countdown.'"
