SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Yonhap) -- Lisa, a member of the world-renowned K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, will take the lead in improving the cultural and educational environment for children and teenagers in Thailand in which she was raised.

The Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange announced Thursday that it will lead an overseas social contribution project in cooperation with BLACKPINK's agency YG Entertainment in Buriram Province this year.

YG Entertainment explained that it plans to build a 160 square meter cultural space at the Non Suwan Pitthayakhom School in Buriram, where Lisa was born, and plan a K-pop dance academy to learn from local instructors along with the support for multimedia equipment such as computers and beam projectors.

Non Suwan Pitthayakhom School was said to have had difficulty in conducting classes due to the underdeveloped classroom, although traditional dance education was usually conducted after school.

Through this project, students will be able to learn traditional Thai dances as well as K-pop dances that students usually encounter online at better facilities.

Lisa agreed with the planning intention of the project and opened an online regular fundraising box. The donated amount will be used to improve the global children's educational and cultural environment, starting with support for children and adolescents in Thailand.

Lisa said, "I hope children can run around and dream freely in a better educational environment," adding, "I want to support and help many children achieve their precious dreams."

Lisa's music video for her first solo song "Lalisa," which was released on Sept. 10, features elements of Thai culture.
