SEOUL, May 30 (Yonhap) -- Kep1er, the girl group formed through Mnet's project, has successfully renewed contracts, becoming the first of such groups to do so.
According to Wake One and Swing Entertainment on the 30th, seven of Kep1er's members have agreed to extend their contracts for continued group activities.
The members who have renewed their contracts are Choi Yujin, Xiaoting, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, and Seo Youngeun. Mashiro and Kang Yeseo will conclude their activities with Kep1er after the release of their first full-length album, "Kep1going On," on June 3, and the Japanese concert in July.
Following this, Kep1er will continue as a seven-member group for their domestic and international activities. Wake One and Swing Entertainment stated, "We have had extensive discussions with Mashiro, Kang Yeseo, and their respective agencies regarding future activities. Ultimately, they will conclude their time with Kep1er. We express our heartfelt gratitude for their dedication over the past two and a half years and will continue to support them."
This marks the first time a project group formed by Mnet has successfully renewed contracts. Kep1er was formed through Mnet's audition program "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga" in 2021. Their debut track "WA DA DA" received gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan just three months after its release. In May, they released their first full-length Japanese album "Kep1going" and promoted in Japan as well.
The agencies added, "We ask for your continued support for what will be the first and last full album with all nine members of Kep1er. We will actively support the group's future activities and each member's musical growth."
