SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- A world-class English playwright Peter Shaffer's original play "AMADEUS" will open at Sejong M Theater in Seoul from Next February 12 to April 11, announced production company Pageone on Monday.
"AMADEUS," also produced as a movie of the same name, depicts agony and conflict of genius musician Mozart and Salieri who was jealous of him.
Written by playwright Peter Shaffer, who wrote plays "Equus," "Black Comedy," etc., the play was first performed at the United Kingdom in 1978 and became a hit after it made inroads in the US Broadway. The work received awards in five different categories at Tony Awards in 1981 and was made into the movie of the same name, receiving lots of love.
This will be the third time the play will be staged in Korea, following 2018 and 2020.
Kim Jae-beom and Cha Ji-yeon who showed great actings in 2020 will be on stage once again as Salieri, and the play will feature newcomers to the stage, Kim Jong-gu and Moon You-gang.
Jeon Sung-woo, Lee Jae-gyoon, and Choi Woo-hyuk have been cast for the role of genius musician Mozart.
