28th Changmu Performing Arts Festival to be held from August 20

SEOUL, August 15 (Yonhap) -- The 28th Changmu Performing Arts Festival, where one can meet the stages and competitions of contemporary dancers active in Korea and abroad, will be held from August 20 to August 30 at ARKO Arts Theater in Jongno-gu, Seoul and The Post Theater in Mapo-gu.

In this art festival, held under the theme of "difference and repetition," 16 performances by Korean and foreign dancers asking questions about the essence and role of dance in COVID-19 and climate change will be staged.

Choreographer Kim Ji-young's work "Gyeol" will be held for the first time on August 20, and choreographer Kim Mae-ja, Korean National Ballet, Korea National Contemporary Dance Company, Kim Yong-geol Dance Theater, and Yoon Su-mi Dance Company will also be on stage.

Unlike last year, when foreign works could not be invited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, dancers from Germany and Japan will be participating.

A workshop where the general public will be able to meet and dance with choreographers including Kim Mae-ja, Kentaro and Honey Dance Company will be held at The POST Theater from August 21 till August 22.


On August 27 and 30, 4 participating teams that has been selected will be competing. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of 10,000,000 won.
