SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean veteran actor Sol Kyung-gu and actress Kim Hee-ae have confirmed to star as political rivals in Netflix’s upcoming original series “Gust of Wind” (literal translation).
The upcoming political series will tell the story of a prime minister who wishes to root out the corrupted power confronting a deputy prime minister for economic affairs who wishes to cling on to that giant power.
In the series, Sol will suit up as Prime Minister Park Dong-ho, who devises a plan to drag the president who colluded with chaebols down from his position of power and bring forth a tectonic shift to the political landscape, while Kim has been slated to appear as Chung Soo-jin, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs fighting fiercely to confront Park.
The series is based on the script written by screenwriter Park Kyung-soo, who is known to have written scenarios for an array of political television series including “THE CHASER,” “Empire of Gold,” and “Punch.” Director Kim Yong-wan, who has credits for producing television series including “Love Cells,” as well as films “Champion” and “The Cursed: Dead Man’s Prey,” will take the helm.
