SEOUL, Mar. 3 (Yonhap) -- The Japanese anime “Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village,
which will be greeting its opening weekend crowds, has topped the local box office chart by accumulating more than 64,000 admissions, according to Korea Film Council.
This spin-off version screens Entertainment District Arc Episodes 10 and 11 featuring the fierce battle between Tanjiro, Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, and their comrades against Upper SIx, Daki, and Gyutaro, as well as the first episode of Swordsmith Village Arc.
The brand-new thriller film “The Devil’s Deal,” starring Lee Sung-min, Cho Jin-woong, and Kim Mu-yeol, which hit the local box office on Tuesday, touched down in second place by gathering more than 239,000 moviegoers over the past two days.
“IM HERO: The Final,” which screens the live recording of hit trot singer Lim Young-woong, guarded third place by receiving rave reviews from his fans. The work, which features the singer’s live performance at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome from Dec. 10 to 11 of 2023, has been securing its place on the top of the box office chart, which is very unusual for a concert film screening.
The Japanese animated sports film “The First Slam Dunk,” which premiered three months ago, is expected to set an all-time highest record for a Japanese animated film at the local box office this weekend.
The film, which is based on the legendary manga series “Slam Dunk,” has gathered more than 3,278,000 moviegoers so far, narrowing the gap with the all-time high record set by the Japanese animated film “Your Name,” which amassed more than 3.79 million admissions.
