SEOUL, Aug. 12 (Yonhap) -- Actor Joo Sang-wook has been selected as the leading role for KBS' epic historical drama "Taejong Yi Bang-won," which will be revived for the first time in seven years.
Joo will play Taejong Yi Bang-won, the third king of the Joseon dynasty, while Taejo of Joseon, who was born as Yi Seong-gye, will be acted by Kim Yeong-cheol, according to the broadcaster on Thursday.
The drama was discontinued since "Jang Young-sil: The Greatest Scientist of Joseon" in 2016, however recently the President of KBS, Yang Seung-dong, promised to revive the drama after claiming to raise the subscription fee.
"Taejong Yi Bang-won" will consist of 36 episodes and will be broadcast at the end of the year.
