SEOUL, Sep. 8 (Yonhap) -- Releasing their first English single since debut, 9-piece girl band TWICE, who has recently been expanding their American fandom, has buckled down to aim for the North American music scene.
The band will release its first English single “The Feels” at 1 p.m. (12 a.m. in EST) on Oct. 1, according to JYP Entertainment Wednesday.
Earlier the group has presented English versions of Korean album’s tracks such as “MORE & MORE” and “I CAN’T STOP ME.” But this is their first time to drop a new song in English.
“The Feels” is a fast tempo-ed disco genre with a high-teen (high school teenagers) concept.
The group unveiled a video providing a taste of their upcoming music through TikTok on the 7th.
In the video, the members walk, in order, to the music like models holding a book in their hands in a powder room. 정연, who was excused from all schedules due to health problems in August, appears in all the contents related to the upcoming come-back.
Since its debut in 2015, Twice has been gaining enormous popularity in the Asian countries including Korea and Japan. The group showed its intention for an expansion to the global market signing a strategic partnership with Republic Records, a label company under the U.S. Universal Music.
After the deal, they attracted more fans releasing English-translated versions of their songs and appearing in America’s famous talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
As a result, the group made a success of entering Billboard 200 as No. 200 at first then hoping up the chart from No. 72 to No. 6.
Meanwhile, the group’ s mega-hit “TT” exceeded 600 million views on YouTube. This is their first 600-million-viewed music video.
Twice has the largest number of 100-millions-viewed MVs (18) among the world’s girl bands.
