SEOUL, Mar. 10 (Yonhap) -- Korea Broadcasting System’s daily television series “Vengeance of the Bride,” which depicts a vengeful story of a woman who hid her identity and became the daughter-in-law of her bitter enemy to exact her revenge, has wrapped up with an average nationwide rating in the range of 14 percent.
The finale of KBS 2TV’s “Vengeance of the Bride,” aired at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, scored a rating of 14.5%. The episode gave a perfect ending to the main protagonist Eun Seo-yeon (Park Ha-na)’s vengeance plan.
In the final episode, Kang Baek-san (Son Chang-min), whom Eun Seo-yeon (Park Ha-na) believed to be her father, turned out to be the one who murdered her biological father. Kang is eventually thrown into prison and gradually goes into madness by constantly seeing visions.
Eun claims and snatches the vacant owner position of LeBlanc, a firm formerly ruled by Kang, and grows it into a global company. The episode also featured Eun a year after her successful revenge. She returns to her husband Kang Tae-poong (Kang Ji-seop), whom she initially was married to as a part of her revenge but eventually falls in love with. They then make promises for the future.
The wrapped-up revenge story received both positive and negative remarks from viewers with its plotlines featuring the so-called soap opera elements, including murder and arson, from the very beginning of the series. Nevertheless, it also received rave reviews for the enthralling character development and solid acting skills of the cast to the point where some viewers even mentioned that the series reminded them of the hit television series “Temptation of Wife,” “Jang Bo-ri Is Here!,” and “My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol.”
However, the ratings could not cross the threshold of 13 to 14 percent ratings from the second half of the series due to its lingering plot lines where the main protagonists got flustered by the villains.
