SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- tvN's romantic melodrama series 'Graduation', known for the lyrical and delicate direction characteristic of PD An Pan-seok, concluded with its highest ratings.

 

According to Nielsen Korea on the 1st, the final episode of 'Graduation', which aired the previous day at 9:20 PM, recorded a viewership rating of 6.6%.

 

In the final episode, Seo Hye-jin (played by Jung Ryeo-won) and Lee Jun-ho (played by Wi Ha-jun) strive to save the Daeche Chase academy where they work. They realize that the relationship between Woo Seung-hee (Kim Jung-young) and Choi Hyung-sun (Seo Jung-yeon) is precarious despite appearances, and they manage to disrupt their partnership. Thanks to an investment from counselor Kim Hyo-im (Gil Hae-yeon), the academy continues to operate in Daechi-dong.

Seo Hye-jin decides to leave the academy to pursue her long-held dreams, and Lee Jun-ho proposes to her, kneeling and offering a ring. The two promise to face the future together, bringing the drama to a happy ending.

 

'Graduation' had garnered significant anticipation before its broadcast as the new project from director An Pan-seok, known for works like 'Something in the Rain' and 'One Spring Night'.

 

Though 'Graduation' did not achieve high ratings, its commitment to a simple and calm narrative without bright lighting or lively sound effects received praise for its gradually captivating charm.

 

An PD's meticulous directing style was evident, capturing the realistic atmosphere of the Daechi-dong academy district and intricately following the characters' emotional journeys, enhancing the drama's immersion.

 

The performances of the lead actors, Jung Ryeo-won and Wi Ha-jun, were also notable. Jung Ryeo-won portrayed Seo Hye-jin with a solid and calm demeanor, subtly revealing vulnerability in front of her long-time student, delivering a natural and engaging performance. Wi Ha-jun's portrayal of the confident and bold younger man captivated viewers, adding to the drama's appeal.
