SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- “‘Love yourself’ is a message that resonates across the world. With our mini album ‘Louder Than Ever’, we want to deliver that message in a louder voice.” (Park Min-seok)

Rookie boy group Newbeat released their first mini album “Louder Than Ever” at noon on Wednesday, marking their next step toward global K-pop fans.

In an interview with Yonhap News, the group said, “We want to spread positive influence through a message of self-love. We hope our music gives listeners confidence and comfort.”

Newbeat debuted in March with their full-length album “Raw and Rad.” The seven-member lineup includes Park Min-seok, who appeared on “Boys Planet,” former TO1 member Jeon Yeoyeojung, and Hong Min-seong, Choi Seo-hyun, Kim Tae-yang, Cho Yoon-hoo, and Kim Ri-woo.

The new album features four songs that reinterpret the early 2000s pop R&B sound with a modern twist. Double title tracks “Look So Good” and “Loud” express ambition, confidence, and a bold shout to the world.

Jeon Yeoyeojung explained, “Our previous album focused on punchy rap to highlight hip-hop vibes. This time, we emphasized rhythm and groove to make the songs smooth yet thrilling.”

Notably, all lyrics are written in English to appeal to global audiences. During production, the group traveled to the U.S. to record with renowned producer Neil Ormandy, known for his work with James Arthur, aespa, and TWICE.

Hong Min-seong recalled, “As soon as we arrived in the U.S., we felt the freedom in the atmosphere. That helped us relax and focus less on perfectionism and more on expressing ourselves naturally.”

Since their debut, Newbeat members have continued to learn and grow every day. After work, they regularly hold feedback sessions to help one another improve.

Kim Ri-woo reflected, “As trainees, we thought debuting would change everything. But we realized we have to keep practicing just as hard, while also connecting with fans.”

Their teamwork, too, has strengthened over time. Before debut, the members completed a 100-kilometer trek from Wonju to Seoul over three days — an experience they say brought them closer together.

Choi Seo-hyun laughed as he recalled, “We were controlling our diets before debut, so we were starving the whole time. I still remember the samgyetang we ate that first night.”

Min-seok added, “What defines Newbeat is our teamwork and spirit of challenge. Our trust in one another and fearless drive are our greatest strengths.”

Looking ahead, Newbeat said they hope to explore brighter and more refreshing concepts while continuing to leave a strong impression with their unity and passion.

“‘Louder Than Ever’ is the result of eight months of hard work,” said Cho Yoon-hoo. “We’ll do our best not to let your expectations down!”
