SEOUL, July 18 (Yonhap) -- JYP Entertainment announced on the 18th that it will establish a local subsidiary, 'JYP Latin America,' in the third quarter of this year to expand into the Latin American music market.
The company aims to extend its artists' tour regions and new business ventures while building communication channels with local fans.
The newly established subsidiary's first major project will be the production of the audition program 'L2K' (LatinAmerica2Korea), which will introduce a Latin girl group based on the K-pop system. To support this initiative, JYP is pursuing a strategic partnership with 'Universal Music Latino,' a label under Universal Music Group.
Previously, in 2022, JYP established 'JYP USA' to expand the tour regions of its artists and is currently working on new projects. Last year, JYP USA collaborated with Republic Records, a label under Universal Music, to produce the K-pop-based North American girl group audition program 'A2K' (America2Korea). The program garnered approximately 65.75 million cumulative views and successfully debuted the girl group 'VCHA.'
JYP's latest move into the Latin American market signifies its commitment to global expansion and cultural exchange.
