SEOUL, August 12 (Yonhap) -- Ulsan Namgu City Management Corp,. announced on Friday that 81,136 people visited the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Zone from July 30 till August 7, the summer vacation season.

The facilities included were the Whale Museum, the Whale Ecology Experience Center, the Ulsan Ship, the Whale Sea Tour Boat, Welly Kida Land, monorail, and the Whale Culture Village. It had an average of 11,142 visitors per day during this period.

Particularly, from July 30 till August 2, which was considered as the peak season, an average of 12,575 people visited the special whale culture zone.

In the peak season, from July 2 till July 15, the Whale Exploration Program of the Whale Sea Tour, the main facility of the program, is being operated 12 times a week when it was originally operated 8 times.

With COVID-19, the boarding capacity was adjusted from 320 to 280, and an average of 263 passengers will be on the ship from August 2 till August 7.

However, during the same period, only one whale was seen, and the company estimates that the formation of a dolphin food group was not smooth as a cold water warning was issued in various places along the east coast earlier this month.

"I would like to thank those who visited the Whale Culture Zone despite the hot weather," said an official from the organization. "We will further expand convenience facilities and contents by reflecting various opinions about the whale culture zone."
