SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Park Seong-Soo, a district head of Songpa-gu, announced on the 14th that the old Pungnap pedestrian underpass will be transformed into history exhibition room for local residents, completing the reconstruction until June.
This work is one of the projects which associates the Earthen Fortification in Pungnap-dong with Songpa Dulle-gil (walking trail).
Park explained, "Pungnap pedestrian underpass needs an urgent renovation because local residents do not visit there often, with its old facilities and dim atmosphere," adding, "We've designed the pedestrian underpass into history exhibition room, considering the fact that recently, the number of visitors in Earthen Fortification in Pungnap-dong is increasing, and that there is a middle school nearby."
Songpa-gu district is planning to add historic, cultural meaning and value of Hanseong Baekje in Songpa Dulle-gil, by installing historic exhibits and main tangible and intangible cultural properties of Songpa-gu district in Pungnap pedestrian underpass.
The history exhibition room will be decorated with photo zone using a model of Earthen Fortification in Pungnap-dong, and an exhibition place of local residents' photographs. In displayed panels, there will be exhibitions of 4 state-designated cultural properties of Songpa-gu district including Mongchontoseong fortress, and ancient tombs in Bangi-dong. In addition, main intangible cultural properties such as Songpa Sandae Nori (mask dance drama of Songpa) will be included in the panels as well.
