SEOUL, Mar. 24 (Yonhap) -- The popularity of Japanese animation "Suzume" and "The First Slam Dunk" is expected to continue for the time being.

 

According to the Korea Film Council's Box-office Information System on Friday, "Suzume" has maintained the top of the Korean box office by attracting 65,000 audiences (52.5% of sales share) the previous day.

 

Directed by Makoto Shinkai, "Suzume" has been leading the pack for 16 consecutive days since its release. Until the previous day, the cumulative audience was 2,207,000.

 

"The First Slam Dunk," which was released in early January and has been a long-running hit, has ranked third with 8,000 people (7.1%) the previous day. The cumulative number of audience is 4.19 million.

 

Park Sung-kwang's first commercial feature film "Woongnami," which was newly released ahead of the weekend, ranked second with 23,000 people (15.7%) but the reservation rate earlier in the day was 7.7%, ranking third.

 

The first place in the reservation rate is "Suzume" (46.5%), and the second place is "The First Slam Dunk" (21.5%).

 

Steven Spielberg's new film "The Fabelmans," which was released side by side with "Woongnami," and the American film "Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon," starring Jun Jong-seo, will also mark the first weekend.
