SEOUL, Nov. 20 (Yonhap) -- Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University and Na Young-seok producer has produced a video (https://youtu.be/8q0ROKw8lqA) about "Hansan Mosi," Korea's National Intangible Cultural Heritage also known as Fine Ramie of Hansan, and has released it from the 18th.
A 1-minute length of English-subtitled version (https://youtu.be/8LDJr7NIgwo) has been revealed as well.
It was co-produced by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation.
The video shows how threads gather to become a sheet of neat and graceful mosi. Also, it shows the community culture of Hasan in Seocheon-gun, South Chungchong Province and Hansan Mosi Jiagi (Fine Ramie Weaving of Hansan)’s value as a heritage.
Especially, it includes the masters’ efforts to continually hand down this tradition. The video features Bang Yeon-ok, the possessor of Hansan Mosi Jiagi skill.
“Starting with ‘Hansan Mosi,’ we have been preparing a series of Korea’s traditions designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The video is currently being spread not only through YouTube but also through social media services such as face book and Instagram,” said professor Seo who produced the video.
Overseas Koreans and international students’ communities are sharing the video around as well.
“It is an honor to introduce Hansan Mosi with my own voice and I hope for many Internet users to watch the video,” said producer Na who took over the narration.
The Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation and professor Seo will continue to introduce Korea’s UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage such as Jeju Island’s haenyeo, gimjang and arirang.
