Musical 'Hero' Celebrates 15th Anniv, Stars Jung Sung-hwa, Yang Jun-mo, Min Woo-hyuk

SEOUL, March, 27 (Yonhap) -- Actors Jung Sung-hwa, Yang Jun-mo, and Min Woo-hyuk are set to star in the 15th-anniversary performance of the musical 'Hero.'

 

Production company ACom announced on the 27th that they have confirmed the cast for the musical 'Hero,' which will be performed at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater from May 29th to August 11th.

 

'Hero' depicts the year-long journey of independence activist Dr. Ahn Jung-geun, who assassinated Ito Hirobumi in Harbin, China, in 1909 and was sentenced to death.

 

First performed in 2009 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Dr. Ahn's sacrifice, the musical surpassed one million cumulative audiences last year.

 

Jung Sung-hwa, Yang Jun-mo, and Min Woo-hyuk will portray the symbols of anti-Japanese sentiment and patriotism, Dr. Ahn Jung-geun.

 

Jung Sung-hwa, who also played the lead role in the film adaptation of the musical, has been part of the production since its inception.

 

Kim Do-hyung, Seo Young-joo, Lee Jung-yeol, and Choi Min-chul have been cast as Ito Hirobumi, the Governor-General of Korea, who opposes Dr. Ahn.

 

Yuriya, Jung Jae-eun, and EXID's Solji will portray Seol-hee, the last court lady of Empress Myeongseong with a fervent love for her country.

 

Kim Jin-soo and Yook Hyun-wook will appear as Dr. Ahn's comrades, Woo Deok-soon and Jo Do-seon, who shared life and death experiences with him.

 

Oh Yoon-seo and former Weki Meki member Choi Yoo-jung will play lively girl Lingling, who assists the independence army.

 

Veteran actress Park Jung-ja will take on the role of Dr. Ahn's mother, Cho Maria, alongside Lim Seon-ae.

 

Japanese actor Nojima Naoto, from Japan-based theater group Shiki, will portray Chiba, a prison guard who admires Dr. Ahn.
