NewJeans snags 6 awards at 2023 Asia Artist Awards
SEOUL, Dec. 15 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group NewJeans snatched six trophies at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards held in the Philippines, the highest record of the annual event, its agency said on Friday.
The quartet won two top honors, "Artist of the Year” and "Song of the Year” at the AAA in Philippines Arena in Manila on Thursday in local time, according to the group's management, ADOR. They also won four other recognitions, including "fabulous," "best choice," "Asia celebrity," and "hot trend."
All five members, Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin and Hyein, were present at the music event.
Upon receiving the Artist of the Year, NewJeans said, "It is only our second attendance at the 'AAA,' and we never imagined receiving two awards. First of all, we'd like to thank our fandom, 'Bunnies.' They have supported and strengthened us from the very beginning of our debut until now. We are truly thankful."
The team also underscored the importance of good teamwork, saying, "We also appreciate our members who have always supported and encouraged each other. With such a significant award, we promise to be NewJeans who can repay with even better music and performances in the future."
Upon clinching the Song of the Year, the group said, "Fortunately, we had many opportunities to perform in front of our fans this year, and because we've been together throughout the year, we consider it as 'NewJeans' Year'… We hope many people can listen to our songs, smile, and find comfort."
Last year, NewJeans won "Performance of the Year" at their first presence at the AAA.
NewJeans is scheduled to ring in the New Year on U.S. television show, "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest," joining the star-studded lineup for ABC's New Year's Eve show.
