SEOUL, Nov. 3 (Yonhap) -- MLB St. Louis Cardinals seems to have no intentions to keep hold of South Korean left-hander Kim Kwang-hyun (33) who has become an FA (Free Agent).
“The Cardinals’ biggest needs this offseason revolve around adding a left-handed bat and a starting pitcher,” reported MLB.com Wednesday (KST).
“On the pitching side, St. Louis could use a lefty to bolster its rotation -- Carlos Rodón might be a fascinating fit,” explained the media.
The media introduced Kim as one of the free agents and reported that none of the team’s FA players “are expected to receive qualifying offers.”
It seems the team is considering giving up contract with Kim, who performed at the lead and the bull pen for the recent 2 years, as expected.
The lefthander began the regular season as a starting pitcher, but was in the IL (Injured List) for 3 times due to back and elbow pain failing to reassure the team.
Kim has came back to Korea and is taking rest thinking over his situation.
