SEOUL December 30 (Yonhap) -- “Ten years have passed so quickly.” Actress Lee Min-jung chuckled while describing how she felt about returning back to silver screen in 11 years after she last participated in “Wonderful Life” in 2012.
Actress Lee Min-jung who participated in an interview at a small café in Jongno district on Friday addressed “It means a lot to me to meet with my fans with a new movie, I am more excited than nervous at the moment.”
“I have always had hankering of participating in a new movie, however, I became more careful of what movies to chose and participate, Drama is something we can see in daily life and it’s always on TV, However, movie is more special, it gives out more pressure in participating in the production, therefore I was very careful of what production to be part of.” addressed actress Lee Min-jung throughout her interview.
South Korean movie “Switch” which is premiering on January 4, depicts a story of superstar figure Park Gang acted by Kwon Sang-woo and his manager Jo Yoon, acted by Oh Jung-se’s lives get switched up with one another. Lee Min-jung appears throughout the movie as a the first love of Park Gang, Soo-hyun.
Soo-hyun is a character with successful career as an artist in real life. In order to pursuit her education in New Yrok she breaks up with Park Gang, however in a distorted reality where everything has changed, she gives up on studying and marries with Park Gang and has two kids. She not only works owns a studio but also she takes a part time job in order to help out the family because Park Gang is still a supporting actor.
The reason Lee Min-jung picked “Switch” to be her returning film was because of “Empathy” she saw in the script.
“I could relate to the story and I think one of the most important thing in my perspective is to give out the vibe that the role actor or actress plays fits them well. Since I have an experience raising kids, it feels and looks more natural.” addressed actress Lee Min-jung.
Lee Min-jung who wanted everything, even small little details at the scene to be natural as well addressed “I tried my best to think of the production site to be like my house.”
“If the actor or actress feels uncomfortable with the set, you can tell through their acting, in order to truly blend in, I ate, walked around with flip-flops, even slept on scene when I had to wait for a while to shoot. Also I played around with child actor and actresses while waiting, because you can tell whether the kids are having fun very easily and without them knowing who I am and comfortable with hang out with me everyone will know they feel.” Lee Min-jung stated.
Throughout her interview, actress addressed how her actual son was very jealous of actor Kim Joon while she was in production of “Switch.”
“Since I was filming with Kim Joon, ins a rural area for so long I think that made him jealous, my son said ‘Why are you with Kim Joon, and not playing with me?’ and wanted to come visit me at the set, after the video he had with Kim Joon, whenever actor appears on TV my son says ‘Oh, its actor Kim Joon.’”
Throughout the movie, Soo-hyun works a part time job on top of working at her studio in order for her husband Park Gang who kept on persuading everyone that he is a famous actor, to take a better profile picture. Actress Lee Min-jung addressed that “In real life I think I am about 80 percent like the character” adding “I am very similar to Soo-hyun, however I think she is much more nicer than I am.”
Character Park Gang who is portrayed in the movie “Switch” has everything, money, fame however feels loneliness. Later on he finally finds out the true happiness comes from the family he loves.
When actress was asked whether she wanted to change her life as portrayed in the movie she addressed “I have thought of something like that in the past, however, even if I do, I would have made the same choices,” adding “I might be just settling with things I have now but I like to think of myself as someone who puts 100 percent on everything I do.”
Lee Min-jung pointed out that her favorite and most memorable choice she made throughout her life was that she never gave up on the career path of actress.
“When things were not going well for me, my dad came to me and said, ‘you should give up on acting’ as a reply I said ‘If I don’t become famous until I become 30, I will.’ I wonder what would have happened if I actually stopped acting back then, if I did, I would not be in ‘Switch.’” actress chucked while taking about her past throughout her interview.
