Supervisor Choi addressed “Director had the most in depth understanding of the computer graphic technology,” adding “Since I have heard he had high expectation and was very thorough, so I was very nervous when I first got to work with him, however he led the entire crew very efficiently.”

Moreover, senior artist Hwang addressed “We have never negotiated on the quality of the outcome,” adding “He put himself on the same level as all of us and participated very actively to come up with ways to find the best solutions, and provided us with an environment to solely work on the project so that we could focus on creating something grand and amazing.”

“If the first ‘Avatar’ movie showcased scale of a swimming pool the second ‘Avatar’ movie offers audience with an ocean.” addressed supervisor Choi throughout his online interview.

Continuing on Choi Jong-jun addressed “We put a lot of time and effort in to creating the water, in order to create realistic water we need a lot of simulator data. The original ‘Avatar’ used intotal of 1pb which is the same as 1024TB worth the data, where as in ‘Avatar 2’ we used about 18.5 pb,” adding “99 percent of the water seen throughout the movie was created through Computer graphic, therefore we used most of the data in order to render and to go through simulators.”

According to senior artist Hwang, he was able to create realistic looking Avatar characters basing off the facial structure of actual actors using the newly developed system by WetaFX called “Facial System.” Moreover artist addressed “By using the system we were able to focus on developing the characters and the artistic aspect of the production.”

Both Hwang Jung-rok and Choi Jong-jin addressed that working on “Avatar 2” took them much longer compare to other productions. It took them over 2 years working on computer graphic, and on creating the faces of various characters it took them over 3 years. Over two thousand experts participated in the computer graphic segment of the production.

“Every individual artists have participated very passionately in the production,” adding ‘every scene in my perspective are ‘Hero Shot’ one that can represent the movie, that is how much we have put in our efforts.” addressed supervisor Choi showcasing his confidence on “Avatar 2.”

“I think it takes more time to increase the quality from 90 percent to 100 then taking nothing up to 90 percent, WetaFX will strive forward to create more realistic, more beautiful image using various technology in the future and for upcoming Avatar productions we might showcase greater development.
