SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Yonhap) -- Yoon Suk-min (35), gold medalist of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Baseball, will play in KPGA (Korea Professional Golfers’ Association) Korean Tour which will be held at Happiness Country Club in Naju South Jeolla Province on September 2nd according to the 2nd Bizplay-Etnews Organizing Committee Thursday.
Yoon who has showed unusual talent on golf even since he was a baseball player, is planning to play in the second tour as well after the upcoming competition.
For this KPGA Korean Tour, retired Park Chan-ho (48) took part in Gunsan Country Club Open in April and YamahaOwners K Open in July but was eliminated as last place from competitions.
Yoon who joined KIA Tigers after 2005 pro baseball 2nd draft round 1, recorded 77 wins and 75 losses with ERA (Earned Runs Average) 3.29 until retirement in 2019.
In 2011, he became a representative pitcher of the league with 17 wins, ERA 2.45, 178 strike outs and winning rate 0.773.
Also, he was an ace player who performed impressively in international competitions such as 2008 Beijing Olympics and leading the team to 2009 World Baseball Classic second place and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Game winning.
He joined American pro baseball Baltimore Orioles in 2014 but did not make it to the major leagues.
