SEOUL February 6 (Yonhap) -- “The fact that I can stand in front of you guys, and have fun and perform bring joy and happiness.” addressed south Korean female singer Gummy throughout her domestic tour “Be Origin” which happened on February 6 in Olympic hall in Seoul to celebrate her 20th anniversary of debut. Moreover singer addressed “Fans who visit the concert provides me with energy and motivates me.”
Gummy, who debuted in 2003 with her first album “Like Them” continued on with her career by releasing numbers of famous tracks with her unique and husky tone of voice. Throughout 20 years of her career artist released “I’m Sorry,” “Memory Loss,” “We Should’ve Been Friends,” and more.
Some of the artist’s tracks released 20 years ago can still be seen highly on the top portion of the charts of R&B tracks within the Karaoke.
“I have met people singing my songs at karaoke before,” adding “I asked them to sing with me as if I was not someone special but just a store owner and chuckled.” addressed artist Gummy.
Despite of the lack of female artists within the early 2000s Gummy managed to continue on with her career by releasing OTS, singles and more. In 2018, singer married South Korean actor Jo Jung-suk in 2018 after continuing on with her romantic relationship with the him.
“I ran in to a middle school student once, and that student only knew me as a wife of Jo Jung-suk,” adding “Either people know me as Jo Jung-suk’s wife or for my tracks, I am okay with it.” artist chuckled while addressing such throughout her concert.
Gummy who started off her domestic tour in celebration of her 20thh anniversary of debut in November of 2022, in Cheonan city continued on with her concerts in Daegu, Ulsan, Busan, Suwon, Gwangju and more greeting over 20 thousand fans. The Seoul concert is the final concert marks the end of Gummy’s domestic tour.
As the opening video showcasing Gummy’s 20 years of her career ended, mysterious purple lazers filled the scene of the concert, as Gummy appeared in her black dress in front of the orchestra crowd went wild.
To kick off her concert Gummy started off with one of her greatest hits, “If You Come Back” and heated up the scene. The artist sang the first verse with her eyes closed, however as the artist reached the end of the first verse she slowly opened her eyes and focused on the emotional aspect of the track.
As the track reached the highlight, where the artist sang the lines of “I still live with memories left alone,” “I walk the streets of memory by myself” and more while hitting the high notes.
The concert proceeded as the artist sang “WE Should’ve Been Friends,” “Childish Adult” and more of her popular songs. Crowds went wild as the artist finished up her tracks one by one which was filled with emotions.
Gummy sang a happy birthday song to an audience who’s birthday was on the same day as the concert and took pictures with the audience who looked similar like the artist.
“I wanted to create a time where those who have listen to my tracks for the past 20 years can look back in the days and think of good memories related to the tracks,” adding “The set list of this concert was created to feature majority of tracks that most of the people know and probably heard of at least once even if you guys don’t know who I am.” addressed Gummy throughout her concert.
Gummy sang couple of the OST tracks such as “The Winter, The Wind Blows,” “Will it snow for Christmas” and more throughout her concert.
After performing three of the OST tracks back to back, artist addressed “Looking back in my life, OST tracks are unrepeatable part of my career and life.”
On top of her own tracks, Gummy performed cover songs of “Limousine,” by BE’O, “Growl” by EXO “Lies,” by BIGBANG and more. Also throughout the concert Gummy’s husband Jo Jung-suk participated on her concert and performed “Special Love” with his wife Gummy through online. Moreover, South Korean rap duo, Dynamic Duo who happens to use the same hair studio as Gummy took the stage as the guest artist and entertained the audience.
Gummy who debuted in her 20s has become 40s.
“As I age I will most likely to perform different genre of music, however I hope the things I want to portray and things I want to convey through my tracks will be well portrayed in the future,” addressed artist Gummy as she stated her intention to continue on with her music career.
