SEOUL, Aug. 17 (Yonhap) -- Girl band Red Velvet has released their 6th mini album “Queendom” in 1 year and 8 months on the 16th of August.

“As this is our come-back in a long time, we are excited and thrilled, and nervous like our debut stage as well. We think that listeners will be able to feel our upgraded vocals and Red Velvet’s unique and various colors,” said the group through their agency, SM Entertainment.  

 

In its first day since release, the song has crashed iTunes Top Album Chart in 50 countries including the U.S, Canada, Netherlands and Norway. 

Their title song “Queendom” carries a message that we are all queens and kings of our live and can more shine when we are together.

“We hope for all the listeners of our song can gain strength and feel happy. The song can restore the listeners’ confidence and positive attitudes when going through hard times,” said the group.

“Queendom,” a dance pop genre with fresh atmosphere, is the band’s summer song in a long time. Red Velvet has earned its title ‘Summer Queen,’ gaining mass popularity with their summer hit songs “Red Flavor,” “Zimzalabim” and “Umpah Umpah.”

The new mini album consists of 6 colorful side tracks including funky “Knock On Wood,” R&B which features the group’s harmonious vocal “Better Be,” and “Hello, Sunset” with its dreamy guitar and drum sounds.

Apart from the composer KENZI, both famous Korean and foreign artists such as mingGtion, Moonshine, lyrcist Seo Ji-eum, Lee Seu-ran took part in the production.

Red Velvet has held an online fan meeting to celebrate their release of a new album at 8 p.m., Aug. 16 through Naver V-live.
