Seoul December 2 (Yonhap) -- Year 2022 marks a tenth anniversary of South Korean traditional song Arirang, lyrical folk song in Korea being appointed as one of the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
On December of 2012, UNESCO listed Arirang, Lyrical Folk Song of South Korea as one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
South Gyeongsang province which is home to “Miryang Arirang” will be hosting a celebratory performance of “Miryang Arirang Fantasia” starting on December 5 at 7 p.m. at the Miryang Arirang Art Center, addressed Miryang city government on Friday.
First segment of the performance will showcase the history of “Miryang Ariang” and how it became to be part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Beopheung Sangwon Play Preservation Association, participants of Sorikkun (Single performer) will perform the traditional Arirang.
Second segment of the performance is about “Hope Arirang.”
Rageum Orchestra will be performing Arirang in front of the audience and singer Park Goon will take the stage to celebrate the anniversary.
