GYEONGJU, Dec. 15 (Yonhap) -- Gyeonju, sitting at the Southeast of the Korean Peninsula, was the capital of the thousand-year-old kingdom, Silla. Seondosan standing at the city’s west was a sacred space to the Gyeongju people during the Silla Dynasty despite its short height of less than altitude of 390 meters. Numerous monuments around the mountain show how the people thought of the place.

On its peak, a stone monument left by the Silla people during around the 7th century remains. Its name is Rock-carved Standing Buddha Triad in Seoak-dong, Gyeongju. Two Bodhisattvas are flanked with Buddha in between. What will the Bodhisattvas be thinking looking down at Gyeonju City?
