Documentary Film about Solbi Wins Silver at New York Festivals TV & Film Awards

SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Documentary film "Painting through Pain," featuring K-pop singer and artist Solbi, recently won the Silver Award in the documentary category at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, her agency Jian Castle announced on the 20th.

 

According to the agency, the documentary has also been nominated in the documentary category at the 16th Shorty Awards.

 

"Painting through Pain" is a short film that revisits Solbi's journey through anxiety and depression following cyberbullying and online rumors spread via social media. The documentary was broadcast by Voice of America 52 and directed by Komeil Soheili, an Iranian filmmaker.

 

The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, which began in 1957, receive over 60,000 entries from around the world annually. The Shorty Awards recognize individuals and organizations for significant contributions to social media.

 

Solbi, who continues her art career under her real name Kwon Ji-an, will participate in the special exhibition "The Rose of Sharon Has Bloomed" at the Cheonan Art Gallery, which is part of the K-Culture Expo, starting from the 21st. She will also showcase her work in a group exhibition titled "Cyber Bullying" at Art Noide 178 in Seoul from June 12th.
