SEOUL, March 13 (Yonhap) -- Exciting news continues for Sangam Bowl (Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium), a mega venue capable of accommodating over 45,000 people.

Singer Lim Young Woong, following his announcement of a May encore concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium, will be joined by the group Seventeen and singer IU in entering the stadium.

According to the music industry on the 13th, Seventeen will be the first to hold a solo concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo-gu this year.

Seventeen has scheduled additional encore concerts, titled "Follow Again to Seoul," on April 27-28 at the venue.

This marks Seventeen's first solo concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium, following their performances at KSPO Dome and Gocheok Sky Dome, setting yet another record.

Following them, Lim Young Woong will hold a solo concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium on May 25-26.

He hinted at this concert during his "I'm Hero" national tour in Seoul last November, stating, "I will become a bigger universe."

In the latter half of the year, singer IU will become the first Korean female solo artist to enter Seoul World Cup Stadium.

IU announced plans for encore concerts on September 21-22 during her world tour Seoul performance held on the 10th, stating, "I want to prepare a different atmosphere for (Sangam)" and raised expectations by saying, "There are many seats."

The main stadium of Seoul World Cup Stadium, with a capacity of 66,000 seats, can accommodate around 45,000 spectators when the stage is set up.

As Seoul's largest performance venue, Jamsil Main Stadium became the largest usable concert venue in Seoul after undergoing remodeling last year.

Psy held a solo concert here in 2013 following the hit "Gangnam Style," and in 2016, Big Bang and in 2017, G-Dragon performed solo concerts.

To enter this venue, artists must have strong ticket power, making it known as the 'dream stage' for popular artists.

Last year, group performances such as Jam Bury's "K-pop Super Live" and MBC's "Idol Radio" were held here.

Although there aren't many scheduled performances this year, the performance industry welcomes Seoul's decision to open stadiums for solo concerts.

According to the Seoul Facilities Corporation website, to perform here, one must apply for use during regular rental periods after confirming soccer match schedules. The Corporation determines users considering stadium schedules and event nature.

According to the performance industry, the Corporation has been stringent in reviewing concert rentals due to concerns about turf damage caused by stage installations. It was reported that several singers failed to rent the venue last year, and there were no actual solo concerts held.

In this situation, this year will see performances by Lim Young Woong, IU, and Seventeen at Sangam Bowl.

A performance industry official stated, "We have continuously demanded the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Seoul Metropolitan Government to resolve the issue of insufficient performance venues," adding, "Opening the door that has been firmly closed is seen positively."

However, he added, "Complaints about outdoor venues are increasing, and the places where performances can be held are decreasing," and "The problem of not having a place to perform still exists."
