SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- BTS member Suga's agency issued another apology on the 8th amid controversy over an insufficient initial apology after he was booked for operating an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.

BigHit Music, Suga's agency, conveyed through the fan community Weverse, "We deeply apologize once again for disappointing many with this unfortunate incident. We also regret causing confusion by hastily issuing a statement without thoroughly examining all the circumstances."

In the previous day's apology, both Suga and BigHit Music referred to the vehicle as an 'electric kickboard.' However, the device Suga was riding is a model with an added seat, confirmed by the police as an 'electric scooter.'

Given the differences in penalties between electric kickboards and electric scooters, some criticized the use of the term 'electric kickboard' as an attempt to downplay the seriousness of the incident.

BigHit Music clarified, "There was no intention to downplay the matter. We sincerely apologize for not examining the details thoroughly and consequently making a hasty statement. We will fully comply with the responsibilities as determined by the investigative authorities regarding the product classification."

The agency further explained, "We identified the product used by the artist as a kickboard with a seat and therefore referred to it as an 'electric kickboard.' Upon additional verification, we recognized that classification could vary based on the product's specifications and performance, affecting the scope of responsibility for the incident."

Previously, BigHit Music only announced that Suga received a fine and had his license revoked. However, under traffic law, an 'electric scooter' is classified as a vehicle, warranting criminal charges for drunk driving in addition to fines.

Regarding this, BigHit Music stated, "On the 6th, the artist cooperated with the police's breathalyzer test and was immediately sent home. Both the agency and the artist mistakenly believed the matter was resolved, unaware that further procedures remained. We apologize for conveying incorrect information due to internal communication errors."

BigHit Music concluded, "We deeply apologize for failing to exhibit exemplary behavior during the period of fulfilling military duties and causing this unfortunate incident. We sincerely apologize to the disappointed fans and will cooperate fully with any further police investigations and humbly accept the results."
