SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- A music performance in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, was abruptly halted due to overcrowding issues.

According to the Seoul Seongdong Fire Station on the 28th, multiple reports were received around 12:40 AM regarding an excessive number of people at the 'Boiler Room Seoul 2024' music festival held at the S Factory complex cultural space in Seongsu-dong.

The performance, which was scheduled to continue until 4 AM, was stopped at around 1 AM for safety reasons. The attendees were guided out of the venue by police and fire authorities. While there were no casualties, five individuals experienced breathing difficulties and received on-site safety measures before returning home.

Attendees are demanding compensation, alleging that the organizers sold tickets without considering the venue's capacity. 'Boiler Room Seoul 2024' was set to feature Peggy Gou, a Korean DJ and music producer active globally from Europe, but the performance was cancelled before she could take the stage.

Peggy Gou expressed her disappointment on social media, saying, "I am deeply upset and heartbroken that the performance was cancelled due to safety issues before I could even play music. I was really looking forward to it, and I had no idea this would happen. We are discussing rescheduling the next performance as soon as possible for those who came."
