SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group NewJeans' fan meeting, "Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome," scheduled for June 26-27 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, sold out in the blink of an eye, its agency ADOR said on the 14th.
NewJeans' Tokyo Dome event marks the shortest period for an artist from a non-Japanese country since their debut, at just 1 year and 11 months. Especially, for a group that hasn't officially debuted in Japan, selling out tickets for the Tokyo Dome is exceptional.
Previously, NewJeans attracted significant attention when they performed on the main stage of Japan's representative summer music festival, "Summer Sonic," in August last year. Even though it was a noon performance, it drew so much interest that audience entry was restricted in the shortest time in the history of the event.
Furthermore, NewJeans staged a special performance on NHK's flagship year-end music program, "Kohaku Uta Gassen," and performed three songs at the "Japan Record Awards." It's an extraordinary treatment for a team that hasn't officially debuted in Japan.
Next month, NewJeans will release their debut single in Japan, "Supernatural," on the 21st. Pop star Pharrell Williams is credited as part of the production team.
At the Tokyo Dome fan meeting next month, NewJeans will perform a total of 24 songs, including four new ones. Famous Japanese mixed duo Yoasobi and singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama will make guest appearances.
