SEOUL, Sept. 2 (Yonhap) — South Korean band DAY6 has released their ninth mini-album, "Band Aid," along with the title track "Melting Down," according to their agency JYP Entertainment.
This new release comes approximately six months after their previous mini-album "Fourever," which marked their return after a three-year hiatus.
The title track from their last album, "Welcome to the Show," achieved significant success, reaching No. 8 on Melon's "Top 100" chart as of the morning of August 30, setting a new record for the band.
Even months after its release, the track continues to receive widespread love. Additionally, DAY6's hit song and "reverse-charting" icon, "You Were Beautiful," remains a strong contender on the charts, sitting at No. 6 on the morning of August 28, while "Congratulations" has maintained a steady position within the top 10.
The new mini-album "Band Aid" combines the concepts of a "band" and "aid," symbolizing DAY6's promise to provide warm comfort and healing wherever needed. The title track "Melting Down" conveys a message of thawing despair in a cold world, thanks to the warmth of someone special. The track features an upbeat yet intense appeal, with melodic punk sounds and diverse drum beats, enhancing the song's message of support and hope.
Member Young K commented, "I imagined enduring a cold world with a warm word or a single hug. I also wanted to make the words themselves fun to sing. I hope that listeners feel good when they hear this song, just as I did while writing the lyrics."
He added, "This title track fits well with the autumn weather and could also complement winter snowflakes. There's a part in the lyrics that uses expressions like 'softly' and 'gently,' and the melody and nuance at that moment are key points."
Wonpil shared, "We will continue to maintain DAY6's unique style, but I believe some change is necessary. That's why we've prepared some tracks on this album that showcase our more experimental side."
DAY6 is set to kick off their third world tour from September 20 to 22 at Inspire Arena in Incheon, Yeongjongdo.
