SEOUL, July 26 (Yonhap) -- DreamWorks Pictures’ animation “The Boss Baby: Family Business” ranked top on its first weekend since release.
The animation topped with 256 thousand watchers (32.2% of the entire sales) during the last 3 days (23~25th), according to the Korean Film Council’s Korea Box Office Information (KOBIS), which collects and processes data of movie tickets’ issues around the country.
This is a record, among animations, following that of “Soul” which was a hit in the start of this year with 408 thousand audiences during its first weekend.
“Black Widow” which had been securing its box office top place in the weekends for 2 weeks was pushed back to 2nd being short of 5 thousand watchers. Adding 251 thousand (35.4%) more audiences, its accumulative figure was 2.58 million and 2 thousand.
Korea and Thailand’s collaboration, “The Medium”, took 3rd place attracting 99 thousand people (14.5%) and in total 769 thousand since its release on the 14th.
Newly released films such as, “The Ice Road” led by Liam Neeson, Japan’s new animation “Gintama: The Final” and horror movie based on the online world “Host”, made it into the top 10.
Theater-visitors during the weekends was 745 thousand for this week in which the social distancing for capital areas was on 4th level. This figure is over 20% less than the week before (941 thousand).
