SEOUL, July 18 (Yonhap) -- Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival successfully concluded its 11 days worth of showing.
The executive committee of the Bucheon International Film Fantastic Festival held its closing ceremony at Bucheon City Hall Fantastic Cube on July 17 at 7 p.m.
The closing ceremony started off with the pledge, and continued on with the screening of the closing film, while the chairman of the festival Jung JI-yeong, head of the executive committee, Shin-cheol and director of the closing film “New Normal”, Jung Bum-shik and the casts attended.
The closing ceremony decreased in size starting this year due to the separation of the award ceremony which took place on July 14 and the closing ceremony which took place in July 17. However, throughout the closing ceremony, attendees cheered throughout every event making it memorable.
The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival which kicked off on July 7, resumed offline events such as red carpet events in 2 years due to COVID-19, and was held as an actual festival were directors, actors, and producers can enjoy engaging in a conversation with one another, face to face.
Total of 268 films from 29 countries which competed in the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival was showcased in 5 different places, total of 14 screens, including Grass field of Bucheon City Hall, Fantastic cube Korea Manwha Museum, and more for 11 days total.
Films competed in the Festival were provided through South Korean over the top service wave as well.
Based on the data collected on July 17 at 8 a.m. total of 92.353 thousand people visited the Bucheon international Fantastic Film Festival. Total of 32.148 thousand people visited the offline screening events, 11.274 thousand people visited through online, 6thousand 503 people visited the theater and more.
Throughout the festival, the executive committee awarded “The Squid Game” with their brand new award “Series Film Award” and gave out the speech of how much the festival have matured based on the various events that they have successfully held.
According to the leader of the executive committee Shin Cheol, “It has been 3 years since we have held an offline event. When we screened our first film, for the audience I felt emotional.” adding “I thank those who have taken time to visit the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and we will work hard to become more mature.”
