SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- DJ Koo (Koo Jun-yup), a former member of CLON, expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (Xu Xiyuan), describing it as "a time of gut-wrenching pain."
Koo shared on his social media on Thursday, "On February 2, 2025, my angel returned to heaven."
He continued, "Right now, I am going through an indescribable time of grief and pain, feeling as if my intestines are being torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I wish to say anything."
Barbie Hsu passed away due to complications from pneumonia after contracting the flu during a trip to Japan. On the 5th, Koo and her bereaved family returned to Taiwan on a private jet, carrying her ashes.

Their love story, which began in the late 1990s, saw them part ways before reuniting and getting married in 2022 after more than 20 years. This sudden and tragic news has left many deeply saddened.
Koo also addressed the wave of speculation surrounding her passing, saying, "Even before we have had time to grieve this immense loss, malicious people are defaming our family and my love. They are creating fake news about insurance and finances to hurt us. Can’t you just let my Hui-won (Barbie Hsu) rest in peace?"
He also spoke about the inheritance, a subject of public interest.
"All of Hui-won's assets were earned through her hard work to protect her beloved family. I intend to entrust everything to my mother-in-law," he wrote. "For the children, I will take legal measures to ensure their rights are protected until they become adults, preventing any ill-intentioned individuals from interfering."
Koo concluded, "The time I spent with Hui-won was an invaluable gift that I would not trade for anything in the world. The last thing I can do for her is to protect the family she loved the most."
