SEOUL March 25 (Yonhap) -- Rookie K-pop boy group TWS, affiliated with Pledis Entertainment and dubbed as the "younger sibling group" to Seventeen, has proven their mettle by selling over 400,000 copies of their debut album.
According to data from the music sales tracking site Hanteo Chart on Friday, TWS's first mini-album, "Sparkling Blue," has sold 406,262 copies as of March 21.
The album, released on January 22, debuted with impressive first-week sales of 268,881 copies.
Group's title track, "Plot Twist," continues to dominate major music streaming platforms, maintaining its position at the top of the charts.
In a remarkable feat, the title track secured the top spot on SBS TV's "Inkigayo" the day after the group's promotional activities ended, marking TWS's fifth music program win.
Analyzing the group's success, the agency stated, "Their distinct genre, dubbed 'Boyhood Pop,' resonates with the public through nostalgic lyrics evoking the beauty of youth, coupled with refreshing melodies that captivate listeners."
Furthermore, they added, "TWS's youthful performances, coupled with their schoolboy, city-boy, and training-look attire, reminiscent of carbonated drinks, have sparked discussions among K-pop fans."
Analysts also attribute TWS's popularity to the striking yet youthful appearances of its six members.
Through their self-produced content such as "TWS: CLUB" and short-form content, TWS has managed to sustain the popularity of "Plot Twist" for an extended period.
TWS has also laid the groundwork for global expansion by signing contracts with Gefen Records under Universal Music Group and Virgin Music under Universal Music Japan last month.
