SEOUL March - 21 (Yonhap) -- YG Entertainment announced on the 21st that the music video for the hit song "Shut Down" by the girl group BLACKPINK has surpassed 600 million views on YouTube.

The music video reached this milestone at 12:55 a.m. on the same day. In just about a year and six months since its release in September 2022, this marks the 15th BLACKPINK music video to achieve over 600 million views.

"Shut Down" serves as the title track of BLACKPINK's second studio album, featuring a hip-hop style sampling of Paganini's "La Campanella." The original's sharp violin performance is combined with a powerful beat, complemented by the members' strong vocals and dynamic rapping.

At the time of its release, the music video attracted attention not only for its flashy visuals but also for being produced with the highest production budget in YG Entertainment's history.

"Shut Down" also made history as the first K-pop song to top the weekly chart on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify.

BLACKPINK boasts a total of 45 music videos with over 100 million views on YouTube. Their official YouTube channel has amassed 93.2 million subscribers, making them the top-ranked male or female artist worldwide. Their content has accumulated over 35.2 billion views.
