SEOUL, August 19 (Yonhap) --The Girl group BLACKPINK will be returning to the music industry as a complete group as they are releasing a new song, "Pink Venom" after 1 year and 10 months on August 19.
"It is a song that expresses BLACKPINK's unique charm more deeply and strongly," said YG Entertainment, the agency, about the new song. "It will be a song that shows what 'BORN PINK' really is while the members are in perfect and unique harmony."
BLACKPINK, which debuted in 2016 with "Whistle" and "Boombayah," has became one of the representative girl groups of the K-pop market with hit songs including "As if it's Your Last," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," and "Kill This Love."
Particularly, the 1st full-length album "The Album," which was released in 2020 had set a new record of selling more than one million copies for the first time in the history of a girl group, and ranked second on the US Billboard main album chart "Billboard 200," which is still the best record of a Korean girl group.
As ambassadors of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), they have been actively speaking out on climate change issues, expanding their influence in fields other than entertainment.
As an extension of this, BLACKPINK's second album, BORN PINK, which will be released next month, will be made with eco-friendly materials, with low-carbon eco-friendly paper, soy ink, and environmental protection coating.
The 2nd album "BORN PINK" has already surpassed 1.5 million pre-orders.
Starting with Seoul in October, BLACKPINK plans to hold 36 tour concerts in 26 cities around North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
