Lee meets with DP leadership to discuss pending issues

SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung held a dinner meeting with the leadership of the ruling Democratic Party (DP) on Monday and discussed pending political and other issues, the party said.

The dinner, attended by DP leader Jung Chung-rae and floor leader Han Byung-do, took place at Cheong Wa Dae and lasted around 2 hours and 40 minutes, according to a written briefing by DP spokesperson Park Soo-hyun.

"I hope to hear about public sentiment and other issues that I may not be fully aware of from those who are communicating with the public on site," Lee was quoted as saying.

During the meeting, participants discussed an array of issues ranging from responding to a rapidly changing international political situation to South Korea's thriving K-culture, according to Park.

Participants also pledged that the DP will strive to sturdily support the president in the new year to help achieve national unity and economic growth.
