"As I'm immersed in my role, I feel more difficult to let it go than relieved from it. Honestly, I want to do more."
Actor Lee Je-hoon (37), who played Kim Do-gi, the dark hero that the times wanted in SBS TV's Friday-Saturday drama "Taxi Driver," said in a video interview on the 31st.
The drama depicts the story of the employees of the taxi company "Rainbow Transport" acting on behalf of the victims in the blind spot of the law.
"I wanted to put all my energy and capabilities into this work thanks to my great responsibility from the beginning," he said, expressing his affection, "I wonder if I can meet this kind of work again." He played numerous "second characters" as he turned into a character with a new job and personality whenever he was asked to do something new.
"I had a hard time because I had to play various side characters in a short period of time, but I'm glad the viewers looked at me positively. Personally, if I do season 2, I think I'll be able to give you more fun through a side cast."
"Taxi Driver" has been loved by many for addressing various social issues such as abuse of the disabled, exploitation of labor, school violence, and satisfying viewers' longing for fairness and anger over the system considered unreasonable.
Lee Je-hoon said, "I was able to get more immersed when I was acting by looking at the actual stories," adding, "I'm sorry to the people who actually went through this incident. The idea of wanting to play the same role became the driving force. I wanted to concentrate more and approach deeply."
He added, "I think we should speak out so that this doesn't happen anymore."
However, "Taxi Driver" had many twists and turns before its first broadcast, with actors being replaced due to controversy over school violence and even writers being replaced in the middle of the film.
Regarding the replacement of the writer, Lee Je-hoon said, "I am satisfied with the ending that gave me the expectation that 'Taxi Driver' can play a role in solving another incident and accident." Also, he thanked Pyo Ye-jin, who joined the group, saying, "I wanted to be a strength in digesting a lot of filming. He was so great and I'm grateful."
In addition, Lee Je-hoon also suffered controversy when it was revealed that the main action scene was digested by a double actor.
"I think the director and the production team were very worried and worried that the main actor might get hurt," he said. "However, I have never refrained from committing to my role even though I might look inexperienced," he explained.
His next move is directing, not acting.
"I had a dream about directing the original Watcha series 'Unframed', which is scheduled to be released in December with actors Park Jeong-min, Son Seok-koo and Choi Hee-seo, but I'm burdened to show it to you so soon," he said. "On the other hand, I'm looking forward to it."
"As an actor, I don't have any next film planned yet. I will try my best to find good works. Don't forget me and wait a little longer. (Laugh)"
