Ahead of Day of Dokdo
People view a miniature of a memorial stone, which has Chinese words inscribed on it meaning "South Korean territory" and is installed on Dokdo, a pair of outcroppings in the East Sea, at the Dokdo Volunteer Forces Memorial Hall in Ulleung, North Gyeongsang Province, southeastern South Korea, on Oct. 21, 2023, four days ahead of the Day of Dokdo, which was announced by a private organization in 2000 to mark King Gojong's edict on Oct. 25, 1900, that the Dokdo islets are attached to Ulleung Island.
