Acting President Han pledges gov't support for SMEs
SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- Acting President Han Duck-soo pledged Monday that the government will support small and medium-sized enterprises to help them navigate the economic challenges facing South Korea.
Han underscored the importance of corporate success during an event commemorating Entrepreneur Day, marking his first attendance at a private event since assuming the role of interim leader following Saturday's vote to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over the Dec. 3 martial law decree.
"The challenges facing our economy are more severe than ever, but we will undoubtedly overcome them," Han said, vowing robust support for Korean businesses' activities abroad.
Concerns have risen over a leadership vacuum ahead of potential shifts in U.S. trade policy, which could negatively impact South Korea's export-driven economy, as the second Donald Trump administration prepares to take office in late January.
