SEOUL, May 25 (Yonhap) -- The music video for global K-pop star BTS's latest single "Butter" continued its record-breaking streaks by achieving 200 million views on YouTube within four days of its release.
According to Big Hit Music, the music video
for "Butter," which was released at 1 p.m. on May 21st (KST),
surpassed 200 million YouTube views at 2:25 p.m. on the 25th. It has been about
4 days and 1 hour since the music video was initially released.
This new record was earned 11 hours earlier than when BTS's "Dynamite" hit 200 million views in 4 days and 12 hours.
According to YouTube's official tally, the
music video for "Butter" has set a new YouTube music video record,
posting 18.2 million views within 24 hours of its release.
As of 9 a.m. on the 24th, BTS's "Butter"
also continued to be popular worldwide, sweeping the the iTunes "Top
Song" charts in 101 countries and regions around the world.
On Spotify, the world's largest music
platform, "Butter" secured a total of 29.9 million global streams on
the first day of its release, marking the highest number of global streams per
day in Spotify history.
However, on the Billboard main single chart
"Hot 100," which will be released next week, BTS's "Butter"
is expected to compete fiercely with rising pop star Olivia Rodrigo, who is
currently making another sensation within the pop music industry.
Rodrigo topped the Hot 100 chart this week with her single "good 4 u," which was released on the 14th. As of right now, "good 4 u" and "Butter" is ranked first and second respectively on the Spotify Global Chart.
