(LEAD) Fishing boat sinks off Jeju Island, with 14 rescued, 13 missing

(ATTN: UPDATES with Yoon's instruction)

JEJU, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) -- A 129-ton fishing boat sank off South Korea's southern island of Jeju on Friday, leaving 14 crew members rescued but 13 others missing, authorities said.

The Coast Guard received a distress call at 4:33 a.m. that a fishing boat was sinking 24 kilometers off Jeju's Biyang Island, with a total of 27 crew members believed to be aboard, including 16 South Koreans and 11 foreigners.

Of the 27 crew members, 14 have been rescued -- two are in a state of unconsciousness -- while rescuers continue to search for the remaining 13 missing.

President Yoon Suk Yeol immediately instructed officials to mobilize all available resources for a prompt rescue of those missing.
