Nat'l Assembly speaker, Panama's president discuss infrastructure cooperation
SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Yonhap) -- National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik has held talks with Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties in infrastructure, Woo's office said Wednesday.
During the meeting in Panama City on Tuesday (local time), Woo voiced hopes for South Korea's continued role in advancing Panama's infrastructure, highlighting ongoing projects, such as the extension of a railway in the capital city and a tunnel under the Panama Canal.
He also urged the participation of Korean companies in a key railway project presented by Mulino, which connects Panama City to the country's western city of David.
Mulino requested Seoul's cooperation in building shipyards as he stressed the need to develop Panama's shipbuilding industry, according to Woo's office.
Last Tuesday, Woo departed on a 10-day trip that also took him to Brazil for the G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit.
