SEOUL, June 23 (Yonhap) -- K-pop megastar BTS
has now topped three of Oricon's key charts with its Japanese-language
compilation album and latest English song "Butter," according to Big
Hit Music on Wednesday.
"BTS, The Best," the seven-piece
band's latest album released by BTS on June 16, topped Oricon's latest weekly
digital album, weekly streaming, and weekly album charts in the week of June
14-20.
"BTS, The Best" topped the weekly digital album rankings with a total
of 7,603 downloads in its first week. This is the eighth time the K-pop act has
topped this specific chart.
The album also sold 782,000 units, marking the largest first-week sales by an
overseas artist.
BTS' megahit dance-pop song "Butter," which was released on May 21,
continued to top Oricon's weekly streaming category for five straight weeks.
The song has so far racked up 92 million streams, and is close to hitting 100
million.
"It is an exceptional achievement to top both album and singles
rankings," Big Hit Music said.
BTS is the fourth artist(s) in Oricon history to sweep the top three weekly
music rankings, following up Japanese singers such as Official Hige Dandism,
King Gnu and LiSA.
Meanwhile, BTS began releasing new content on Wednesday ahead of releasing a
single CD, which includes "Butter" and a new track, next month.
