SEOUL,
May 4 (Yonhap) -- One of Hollywood's most-loved actresses, Angelina Jolie is returning
to the big screens with a thriller movie, "Those Who Wish Me Dead."
Since
"Maleficent," which was released two years ago, Angelina Jolie has
returned as a strong female figure similar to her other roles in the past.
However her latest role allowed her to refer to her own emotions and
experiences such as motherhood and sacrifice in order to create an impactful
performance.
During
an video conference after the premiere of "Those Who Wish Me Dead" on
the 4th, Jolie described her new role as a 'healing' experience for her.
The
actress explained, "As an artist, it's very healing to play people
(Jolie's character, Hannah) like that. She's been very healing for me, because
you just get so broken and then you stand back up."
In
the movie, smokejumper Hannah Faber (played by Angelina Jolie) struggles from
the trauma of losing three lives she failed to save from a fire. When Hannah
works alone at a watchtower in the deep forest, she comes across a 12-year-old
boy, Conor Casserly (played by Finn Little) who has unwittingly witnessed a
murder. Hannah makes it her responsibility to protect Conor from the two
assassins coming after him and the fire that soon rages around them.
Angelina
Jolie mentioned how she had approached Hannah through the character's weakness
rather than her strengths.
“Many times over, my life has been enhanced and I have grown through
love for my children and my relationship to them. So for me, I loved that this
character was so broken and felt overwhelmed and what saved her is him,” the
actress said.
The actress who has been working on many humanitarian activities
including The UN Refugee agency mentioned, "We hope that this film also
brings attention to the firefighters who are very brave and who are on the
front lines risking their lives and doing all they can to prevent the spread
and protect."
